Are We Listening?

My cozy couch seems to be calling to me, ‘come and sit down. Put your feet up for a bit and enjoy the day from here.’

“Really? Can I sit and relax now? But it’s in  the middle of the day.” my internal chatter responds.

Travails of Dementia and a Tribute to My Mother

Travails of Dementia…and a Tribute to My Mother

Looking into her hazel eyes, I quietly wonder, “Where did you go, mom?” These are the same eyes I have known for 51 years, but she’s not the same mom any longer.

I know the remnants of my highly intelligent, independent and outgoing mother are still right here in front of me. Yet, the eyes looking back at me lack the old vitality and insight.

There are times she knows I am her oldest daughter as we sing a familiar stanza from a song together. And in a flash, the memory disappears and a disoriented little girl inside is asking for her mother.

Sadness and loss grip my heart. These are familiar emotions to me, but with a different twist. It’s a slow letting go type of loss. As if I am standing on the shore watching a favorite ship drift out to sea, trusting its new harbor will bring respite.

What?? Change? Again?

Cycles of Change.  I hear that’s what life is about. I always thought of myself as one to embrace a certain amount of change. However, lately, it’s as if I am just getting settled in and “BOING”, life slaps me with another doozy!

Well, it is 2012 after all, and I am not one to tie into many of the myths and fear based beliefs surrounding this date. Yet, I am not in denial as I know we are in a cycle of shift as I feel the huge changes taking place all around me.  So, here was my conversation the other morning with the Universe. (spirit, God, angels, whatever term feels best)

Me: ‘May I please just get a moment to catch my breath?

October Newsletter

Here is an excerpt from my October 2012 Newsletter:

We Welcome October...

With the onslaught of information coming at us, especially with

this being an Election Year, many people are

feeling overwhelmed. This can affect many aspects

of our health, but in particular, our MEMORY and

ability to Focus!

Our focus span has continually decreased, to the point that we are down to 9 seconds... the same as a Goldfish!!

What can we do to improve our focus and our ability to maintain our memory?

Here is a short synopsis with some tips:

A short time ago I read something interesting: Have you thought of something while in one room and as you left the room, easily forgot where you were going, what you were looking for or what you were doing? It has been proven that when we walk through a doorway the energy shifts and we forget easier. Go back to the original room and see if the memory comes back in. It's also easier to keep the original thought when what we were going after is in the same room.
